Matlock Bath Illuminations & Fireworks Nights 2017

The Matlock Bath Illuminations have a long established history. To celebrate the Diamond Jubilee in 1897, the village was illuminated by fairy lamps and Chinese and Japanese lanterns with a torchlight procession through the village - followed by a procession of illuminated boats on the river and the limestone gorge rock face was decorated with coloured bonfires.

The Illuminations 2017 will run from Saturday 9th September right through till Saturday 28th October with spectacular clifftop firework displays every Saturday evening.

Chatsworth House -
Cavendish family home since the 1550s

Chatsworth, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, is set in the heart of the Peak District in Derbyshire, on the banks of the river Derwent. Each year Chatsworth hosts a number of special events including the Horse Trials, Country Fair and Christmas market; and from November the lower floors of the house are transformed for the annual Christmas displays.

The Heights of Abraham

Cable cars and hilltop country park with caverns and more. Originally the Heights of Abraham was only accessible to visitors who could scale the steep slopes of Masson Hill. In 1984 Britain's first alpine style cable car transport system was installed. Rising from the valley floor, the observation cars transport you in comfort and safety and allow stunning views of the Derwent Valley and surrounding Peak District.
